Solution Designer/Architect - Theale - Permanent

We are hiring a solution designer who can demonstrate significant experience in producing solution designs for complex transformation projects in telecommunications/Other industry verticals. He shall work closely with business stakeholders, SMEs and business analysts to understand what challenges the business are trying to resolve, enabling you to produce architectural solutions and designs that add real business value and meet the needs of the business.

Hybrid Mode of work: Expecting someone to be in office 2 days a week once things become normal.

Compensation: Base Salary+15% bonus, 30 days paid holiday, pension (up to 15% combined contribution), life assurance, medical cover

Responsibilities:

  • To produce design documentation to define scope and user experience and acting as the key contact to ensure that the solution meets the business needs for the relevant project.
  • Write the High Level Design specification that is the input for the internal or external development teams, supplier and operations teams
  • To review third party documentation to ensure it matches the requirements of the project and its stakeholders.
  • Ensure that full end to end solutions are risk assessed, scored and validated for quality, fit for purpose and alignment with our IT strategy.
  • To present architectural solutions to technical governance forums and business stakeholders.
  • Proactively support the business in designing new products and services so that they use core features available within the current solutions minimising the need for bespoke customisation unless consciously decided to do so.
  • Ensure solutions are deliverable in timeframes committed. They should be scalable, repeatable and utilise existing standard services as much as possible.
  • Advising stakeholders on complex issues and progress on technical solution implementation plans, ensuring business impact is understood and that risks are appropriately mitigated.
  • Excellent communications skills, with the ability to explain the impact of technical issues to non-technical stakeholders
  • Providing supervision and guidance to development teams to ensure project success.

Skills:

  • Proven track record of delivering solutions across multiple supplier platforms and impacting on multiple stakeholders, in a timely fashion and with minimal post-live issues.
  • Experience of systems integration e.g. web/REST services and XML/JSON, file transfers and integrating COTS products into a complex enterprise IT eco-system.
  • Experience of structured data platforms (especially relational/SQL databases) and also an appreciation of unstructured/document data management (eg SharePoint)
  • Awareness of IT Security and compliance issues.
  • Telecom industry background preferred.
