Job Description

Calling all accountancy specialists seeking a new challenge in a education setting from 2020.

Project People are supporting a Multi-Academy Trust based in SE London. They are keen to appoint a Director of Finance from January 2020 on a permanent basis.

The MAT comprises of two secondary schools and a third school that recently opened in 2019. With their current expansion plans, they are seeking to appoint a Director of Finance that will grow and develop with the MAT.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the financial and accounting service, as well as providing support to the strategic development of the Trust.

Candidates will have suitable finance qualifications such as (AAT, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) and will preferably have experience of working in the education sector, with significant experience of working at a senior level providing robust financial plans and advice to Board level.

The Trust budget from September 2020 is expected to be circa. £25 million, with over 3,000 students and up to 400 staff. As an expanding multi-academy trust, these figures are likely to increase further in the next few years, therefore this is an exciting time to join and be a part of their journey.

KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Keep the accounts of the Trust and prepare annual Statements of Financial Activity (SOFA) and Balance Sheets in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP)
  • Safeguard the Trust's assets and ensure the overall business viability of the Trust over the long term.
  • Ensure the Board of Trustees are fully informed of the Trust's and individual school's finances on a regular basis
  • Day-to-day running of the finance department
