DATA CORE DESIGNER - 3G, 4G, Wifi - MOBILE TELECOMS EPC

Working a major telecoms company, we are currently recruiting for a Senior level design engineer, to focus on high level documentation and vendor management on high-profile projects.

We are looking for someone very focussed on data/packet core platforms and systems.

• Responsible for the technical delivery of solutions under your control for Mobile Packet Core (MPC) and Enhanced Packet Core (EPC) networks to enable the deployment of the EPC network.
• Responsible for technical interworking with cross functional delivery teams including network (RAN, Transmission, IP, Service Layer, and PS) and IT delivery specialists to enable the delivery of EPC data core design solutions.
• As part of the data core design team be accountable for the production and management of design documentation for the solutions and elements under your control.
• Support, with the project management functions, the production and management of robust and cost efficient delivery plans to ensure that capabilities are delivered to requirements, on time and without negative impact to the service and business KPIs.
• Be a key escalation point for operational and validation issues and co-ordinate vendors and internal teams to formulate action plans to resolve technical design, test and operational issues (defect and performance).

Must Have:

• Good working knowledge of 3G MPC elements and associated interfaces, including key protocols including GTP, Radius, Diameter, RANAP and MAP.
• Good working knowledge of 3G networks on an end to end basis.
• Experience of deployment of key network systems through the delivery lifecycle from initial design to full operational handover.
• Up to date understanding of the LTE network as well as key associated technologies and functionality including IMS, RCSe, VOLTE and CSFB.
• Good understanding of Operational and Business support systems.
• Good analytical and problem solving skills.
• Good practical skills in troubleshooting and fault resolution.

Nice to Have:

• Experience of the commercial deployment of EPC, which could include design, test and/or deployment.
• Experience of working with multi-vendor (e.g. any of Huawei, Nokia, Ericsson, Cisco, Samsung etc) core network systems across 3G, 4G and Wifi.
• Working knowledge of IP networks, preferably with experience with the prime IP vendor equipments

• Vendor management skills and experience.
• Educated to degree level in a Telecommunications discipline.

• Project lifecycle understanding.
• Ability to motivate small to medium sized teams
• Ability to travel and work from remote locations on a regular basis.
• Time served experience in 2 of the following work areas: design, test and operations.
