Fire Compliance Specialist (RC/C/Firesafety) Reading UK

Fire Safety Specialist/ Compliance Specialist

Contract Duration - 6 months

Location - Reading - Hybrid - 2 days/Week

Context:

Due to a change in risk appetite combined with new building safety legislation, MBNL is undertaking a review of its fire safety and compliance approach. We have drafted a set of guiding principles to ensure compliance with key legislation as well as some practical models of how these compliance obligations can be discharged. MBNL are now looking for expertise to support their implementation and delivery.

What we are looking for:

  • A strong understanding of risk assessment and risk mitigation in the context of relevant regulatory authorities and expected compliance and risk management.
  • Proven experience of defining and implementing strategies, principles and ways of working covering multi-site/multi-asset estates.
  • Excellent understanding of UK legislation, standards, and guidance, such as Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Building Safety Act 2022, Regulatory Reform (Fire & Safety) Order 2005; The Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999; Construction and Design Management Regulations 2015, Relevant Building Regulations applicable to Telecoms-
  • A collaborative working style with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • An ability to demystify technical terminology.

What you will do:

  • Review draft fire principles against current legislation to ensure they are appropriate.
  • Document how the wider telecoms industry is approaching the topic so that we assess how our intended approach sits within the wider industry context.
  • Develop a practical, pragmatic approach as to how MBNL can discharge its fire obligations, translating guiding principles into practical application using industry best practice.
  • Produce a gap analysis on the 'current' versus 'planned' state, prepare, and execute a transition readiness plan.
  • Provide expert guidance on current Building Safety Act driven questions for in-flight projects relating to fire.
  • Develop policies, templates, and standards as appropriate.
  • Produce workflows and RACI to deliver a fire safety compliance regime.
  • Training of wider teams as required.
