Role: Unix System Administrator

Location: Dublin, Ireland

Length: Contract & Permanent

The Role:

A leading global IT company are looking for experienced Unix System Administrators to join their team at both a Junior & Senior Level.

The role will involve managing the day to day administration and maintenance of the Solaris and Linux environments & you will be responsible for handling complex technical queries for our client's customers or partners.

Key Accountability's:

  • Proactively monitoring managed service components.
  • Maintenance and administration of the Solaris, Linux, NetBackup & CommVault environments.
  • Carrying out preventative maintenance.
  • Resolving issues with vendors including Oracle, EMC & Veritas.
  • Installation, integration and maintenance and administration of central services.
  • Maintain software & hardware to supported levels, patching & upgrading as required.
  • On site debugging of complex hardware and software issues.
  • Ownership of assigned tasks and resolution of customer problems within SLA's.
  • Support, analysis and monitoring of network and servers with appropriate software tools & methods.
  • Update & upgrade complex IT products & systems.

Key Skills/Experience:

  • Junior Level: 2+ year's experience in a similar role.
  • Senior Level: 7 + year's experience in a similar role.
  • Experience with Redhat Linux or Oracle KBM.
  • AWS, Azure or Solaris experience is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with the concepts of Unix storage & have working experience with SUN/Oracle, EMC or Fujitsu disk storage solutions.
  • Full familiar with standard operational activity including, scheduling, batch run, backup and recovery, Unix scripting, user management & monitoring.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as proven experience of technical documentation production.
  • Experienced in a wide range of technology areas.
  • Experienced in most areas of the solution life-cycle.
  • IT Certifications, holding a relevant Third Level Qualification as well as having a good technical training background.
