Transmission Planning Engineer - 12 Months Contract

The Role:

The Transmission Planning team is responsible for the planning & delivery of the transmission network according to agreed planning guidelines and policies on behalf of our shareholders. Transmission designs are delivered via Managed Service Partners (MSP's) managed by the MBNL Delivery Team.

* The primary responsibility of the Transmission Planning Engineer is to ensure transmission plans are delivered on time, to budget and meet agreed specifications.

* The Transmission Planning Engineers will ensure that Transmission Network upgrade activities are designed and dimensioned to ensure that network availability targets are maintained or improved.

* The Transmission Planning Engineer will be expected to engage with stakeholders to discuss/agree alternative solutions, design requirements, concessions etc.

* The Transmission Planning Engineer will be pro-active in working with the MBNL Transmission Design Team and where applicable assist with creation of technical documentation and guidelines.

* Report project/deliverable progress to the TPS Team Seniors and PMs who will advised on any corrective action required (as necessary)

Key Responsibilities:

Activities undertaken by the Senior Transmission Planning Engineer include (but not limited to)

o Transmission Topology Planning (HLTP)

o Etherway Planning and Order (up to 10GB)

o MW Planning (incl X-PIC, E-Band, Space Diversity)

o Circuit Planning (end to end connectivity)

o Cease of obsolete Etherway and MW (and any associated contracts/licences)

o Tools & Systems DI resolution

o Operational performance resolution (break-fix)

o MW Software Upgrade support (on the day)

o Live performance analysis (fault identification)

o Instruction of LOS Surveys and Tree Lopping (in life management)

o Support TX FOA and NPI activities

· Act as transmission lead, manage strategy, deployment and technical related issues on assigned projects.

· Work closely with Network Design and the Operations function to ensure that such projects are prioritised as appropriate.
