VENUE TELECOM MANAGER(NETWORKING) - CONTRACT - ONSITE BIRMINGHAM

Leading Managed Services Provider in the Defence Sector require a VENUE TELECOM MANAGER to join their ongoing project. Candidates who have worked as Project Lead / Project Co-ordinators / Network Managers / Telecom Mannagers in telecom and networking industry can also apply.

Duration: 3 months

Location: Birmingham onsite required- expences paid for non local candidates

Generic Role Purpose

The role holder works with under general direction with substantial responsibility and autonomy for planning and delivering their work. Recognized as a knowledge leader, supporting less experienced staff, the role holder performs varied and complex technical and professional activities and investigations, along with taking an analytical and systematic approach to problem solving. The role holder also delivers medium/high complexity work packages as part of customer implementation projects.

Required:

  • Strong Project Management, motivational and people management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the entire scope of Venue Telecoms services and a familiarity of other technologies. For example: -
    • WAN circuit delivery
    • LAN networking - including switches, access points (wireless and physical), fibre and copper installations, etc.
    • IP telephony.
  • Though this is a management/coordination role, previous 'hand on' experience in delivering venue telecoms and networking technology (above) would be a bonus.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Experience of working in a live operational support environment, including the resolution of incidents and the proactive monitoring of telecom services.
  • Experience of managing 3rd party suppliers (some contracted by Client, some by the OC) and integrating them into a 'one team' culture.
  • Ability to accept a significant level of responsibility and accountability.
  • Ability to work in a multi-stakeholder, multi-cultural and international team environment.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to quickly understand complex problems and devise effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible approach to working hours.
  • Fluent in English

  • ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as the senior point of contact within the venue for escalation and resolution of Telecoms related issues in close cooperation with the Venue Technology Manager ("VTM"), Technology Service Desk Manager, Technology Operations Centre ("TOC") and other venue stakeholders.
  • Responsible for the delivery of all Fixed and Mobile Telecoms products and services required at your allocated venue(s).
  • Responsible for defining and integrating the telecoms delivery schedule for your venue(s) to meet Organising Committee ("OC") requirements for Test Events and operational service.
  • Responsible for coordinating OC suppliers (& others) in the completion of consequential works necessary to accommodate Telecommunications equipment and services required at your venue(s).
  • Develop effective working relationships with the other functional area venue teams, venue owners and other suppliers.
  • Work with the VTM to understand the requirements of the OC functional areas during and post venue planning to ensure their Telecoms requirements for your venue(s) are accommodated within the constraints of the project, developing an increasingly detailed view of the technology products and services to be deployed in order to test and operate the venues on time, within budget, and for the best experience of the various key client groups.
  • Assist the VTM to develop the allocation, management and recovery plans for each venue for Test Events, Technical Rehearsals, other Venue readiness tests and the Commonwealth Games.
  • Provide Telecoms input to the technology venue planning for your specific venue(s).
  • Drive the development of detailed venue low level design and overlay plans for your venue(s) to ensure that required telecoms services and dependencies are understood, planned and provided.
  • Responsible for implementation based on low-level designs for your venue(s), interfacing with the Telecommunications deployment teams and suppliers, arranging access, deliveries, co-ordinating on-site activities, monitoring progress and escalating issues requiring resolution to the relevant people i.e. VTM, Telecoms Programme Management and/or Telecoms Duty Manager ("DM") in the TOC (when operational).
  • Prioritization of works, develop and maintain an overall program of works for the assigned venue(s) that gives a venue specific integrated view of the delivery of all Telecoms services for Test Events, Technical Rehearsals, other Venue readiness tests, the Commonwealth Games, and post games decommissioning and asset recovery.
  • Work closely with the VTM to contribute to the master technology plan and proactively assess and manage related risks. Escalating any major scope changes, risks or issues to the VTM and centrally for resolution as required.
  • For test and operational phases you will;

  • Ensure the Fixed and Mobile Telecoms services are deployed and tested to meet requirements.
  • Be responsible for the management and resolution of all Telecoms related incidents to achieve SLAs where incidents are allocated to the Venue team by the OC Technical Service Desk. Resolving > 80% of support issues at the Venue level.
