Job Description

Technical Author - S1000D - Basingstoke (some home based during COVID) - Security Cleared

A national security clearance is required for this role but candidates not holding this level of clearance will be considered

We are looking for an experienced Technical Author (TA) who can work on an existing project to carry out due diligence activities before the production of technical documentation.

Once this is in place, the TA must then produce concise and accurate technical documentation based on information taken from a variety of sources. The role will involve working with engineering teams to obtain an understanding of the products and solutions developed for the programme in order to understand the documentation requirements and produce the necessary supporting documents, the candidate should be familiar with common IT equipment usage and configurations.

The candidate must provide evidence of their ability to deliver high-quality Technical Documentation (TD) as part of a project team as part of an end-to-end process that involves the collection and analysis of input data resulting in the publication and distribution of TD in multiple formats.

It is essential for the TA to have a technical/engineering background in order to produce artefacts in a coherent and comprehensible language, and that they are competent,in including but not limited to: MS Office, Adobe FrameMaker, Isodraw, CAPS2000 and Eagle Publishing System (EPS), CorelDraw.

  • Ability to express technical information clearly and briefly in simple English, as appropriate to its intended audience
  • Proven documentation skills to a high‑level, with an in‑depth working knowledge of MS Office applications and other defined publications packages
