Job Description
My global IT service client is looking for a Technical Author to produce concise and accurate technical documentation from a variety of source information. The role will involve working with customer teams to obtain an understanding of the products and solutions developed for the programme in order to understand the the documentation requirements and produce the required supporting technical documentation.
The Technical Author will be required to work on the customer site in Corsham Wiltshire. The project is an IT system with the usual server/data centre equipment and the candidate should be familiar with common IT equipment usage and configurations.
The key skills required for this role are:
- An ability to interpret and assimilate basic IT technical data;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Good interpersonal, communication and team-working skills, to gather information from colleagues;
- The ability to express technical information clearly and briefly in simple English, as appropriate to its intended audience;
- Excellent documentation skills with an in‑depth working knowledge of MS Office applications and other defined publications packages.
The role is fundamental in the management, conduct and deliver of TDs tasks to support the delivery of capability to User. The Technical Author is responsible for research, drafting of TDs and supporting the development of Engineering Management Information provided by the customer to the Supplier, and/or by the Supplier to the customer to support the generation of TDs and artefacts for use the customer.
The Technical Author will work with the customer ILS team to produce a Technical Documentation Management Plan (TDMP) and shall manage and maintain Technical Documentation and work closely to support Engineering.
The Technical Aurthor will produce a Publications Database (PDB) and Manage the PDB containing all DM and associated information required to maintain, support and operate the customer System(s) and equipment.
A national security clearance is required for this role but candidates not holding this level of clearance will be considered
