Leading Managed Services Provider in the Defence Sector is looking to hire an experienced SQL developer to join our expanding BI & Reporting team. A Senior SQL Developer to join our expanding BI & Reporting Team. Reporting to the Technical Manager you will be responsible for providing 3rd line technical support to our customers, managing key technical projects, whilst supporting and mentoring our internal team to manage, document and implement change.

This role requires a proactive and driven individual with in-depth knowledge of SQL server who can work independently to review current DW processes and make recommendations to the technical manager to improve and optimise DW Processing and ensure efficient execution of packages.

Key Responsibilities

• • Power BI Report Server Upgrade Jan 2021 - Sep 2021 - Work with the reporting team to test and validate the latest release and then work with DBA team to implement. Manage comms with the business users of outages and Desktop upgrades.
  • SQL Server 2016 -> 2019 Upgrade - Identify the impact of the upgrade and plan required steps to upgrade all our SQL servers (6) to the latest patch version of 2019 EE. Work with DBA team to implement upgrade and work with developer on upgrading local development environments (laptop).
  • DW Metrics - Establish KPIs for monitoring and measuring DW service performance.

  Skills

  • Strong experience working with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL (post 2016)
  • Extensive experience using Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (post 2016)
  • Experience of SQL performance Tuning
  • Understanding of Explain Plans and query execution
  • Experience of SQL Server database Unit Testing
  • Experience using source control (TFS/Azure DevOps/Git)
  • Desirable experience using PowerShell
  • Experience using CI/CD pipelines like TFS/Azure DevOps/Octopus
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to identify root cause and permanent resolution
  • Coaching and mentoring skills
  • Experience in Agile development environment
  • A continuous improvement mentality
