Requirements and Role description

  • The candidate should have a proven track record of architecting, designing and integrating Service Layer systems, solutions and services within 4G/LTE EPC, IMS and Application Function domains in order to realise Products and Marketing 4G voice and data service business requirements.
  • The candidate will lead the Service Layer aspects of the LTE VoLTE service; including: solution architecture, functional & non-functional requirements capture and definition, high-level/low-level design, installation, platform integration, deployment, configuration, test verification/validation, capacity engineering and support Transfer To Operations (TTO).
  • The candidate will be required to liaise and work with cross functional delivery teams and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) within both the internal organisation and external Vendor organisations to enable the delivery of Service Layer design solutions
  • The candidate should have a proven track record operating within multi-vendor, mobile network environments and possess extensive experience of 3GPP, EPC, IMS, Service Layer or Service Control networks, architectures and associated protocols (i.e. SIP and Diameter).
  • The candidate will need to bring experience of translating business use cases and end user experience requirements into technical requirements specifications for Vendors, End-to-End (E2E) architectural teams and lead technical workshops and support commercial negotiations with vendors during RFX activities.
  • The candidate should be able to provide Technical Design Authority 'steer' in order to contribute to the Strategy and future direction of Service Control/Service Layer initiatives within the 4G/LTE network.
  • The candidate shall support Vendor Management on all aspects of design, development, testing, functionality, performance, capacity, product evolution, feature delivery and fault resolution.
  • The candidate shall support evaluation, delivery and test verification and validation of new software releases into the Service Layer/Service Control domain.
  • The candidate will play a key role in engaging on all projects based on their High Level Architectural (HLA) significance to provide the right architecture and governance oversight within the overall 4G/LTE programme.

Knowledge and experience

Essential:

  • Excellent cross-functional communication, co-ordination and negotiation skills
  • Good presentation skills (e.g. addressing a large, predominantly technical audience)
  • Ability to recognise and create business benefits from technology functionality
  • Strong knowledge of the MNO Value Added Services (VAS), Next Generation Intelligent Networks (NGIN) architectures, services and associated protocols (i.e. especially RADIUS and LDAP)
  • In-depth technical knowledge of the 4G/LTE EPC, IMS networks, architectures, services and associated protocols (i.e. especially SIP and Diameter)
  • Strong knowledge of 3GPP Rel-9/10/11 Policy & Charging Rule Function (PCRF) and Policy & Charging Enforcement Function (PCEF) architectures and interworking
  • Strong knowledge of Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) and Diameter Routing Agent (DRA) solutions and architectures

Desirable:

  • 5+ years as a Mobile Communications and E2E Systems Engineering/Service Design or Design Authority professional
  • Suitable technical qualification (i.e. B.Sc., B. Eng or equivalent)
