Location: Ipswich

Permanent full-time

09.00 - 17.30 Monday - Friday, with 1 hour break

Company Technologies Research & Development (UK) Ltd, is developing leading edge optoelectronic devices for the next generation of communications networks. Our expanding technical team and wafer fabrication facility are based at Adastral Park near Ipswich, Suffolk in the UK with significant links to our sister facilities in Santa Clara, USA and Wuhan, Shenzhen, China.

Company Ipswich Research Centre is looking at for a R&D Test Engineer with experience in testing optoelectronic devices. This role reports to R&D Team Lead. As part of R&D Test Team, you'll be responsible to develop test rig prototypes (HW & SW) & test methodology to develop next generation devices in close cooperation with Design team & later support its transfer to NPI phase.

We wish to recruit a highly motivated professional with experience in III-V semiconductor physics & ability to quickly setup rig prototype to validate new devices and/or test methodologies. Solid knowledge of statistic tools & ability to organize data in report are essential to ensure a data-driven development & effective co-operation with other teams in the organisation.

We are looking for an individual who is capable to work calmly under pressure in a fast pace environment with great attention to details.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop test rig prototypes (HW & SW) & test methodology
  • Plan, develop & execute project-based test strategy
  • Test devices & technical reports of finding/proposed improvements
  • Engage with supplier to buy off-the-shelf/customised solution to fit project requirements
  • Transfer test methodology to Backend team & support them during NPI phase

Skills/Qualifications:

Essential

  • PhD in PhD in physics, preferable in optoelectronics
  • In-depth/Good knowledge of III-V optoelectronic device physics
  • Knowledge of optoelectronic device testing from DC to RF
  • Solid knowledge of statistics tools (SW like Minitab or similar is a plus)

Desirable

  • Knowledge of LabVIEW or other automation SW
  • Previous experience in Telecom
  • Knowledge of lean, six sigma toolset
  • Knowledge of design and/or fabricating process of III-V optoelectronic devices.
  • Optoelectronic industry reliability standard.
  • ISO9001 or equivalent Quality Management System
