Job Description

RAN Security / RAN Design Consultant - Mobile Telecoms - 6 month contract - Berkshire with flex working

The successful candidate will work on the RAN part of a companywide TSR Programme to comply with the new regulatory National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) TSR security framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment of RAN domain compliance with the NCSC TSR framework (GAP analysis)
  • Definition of RAN Security implementation plan
  • Delivery of RAN Security implementation plan

Sample Activities:

  • Work collaboratively with the Security Team and RAN experts to assess RAN domain compliance with TSR
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and Partners to produce and deliver RAN Security Implementation plan
  • Lead on security hardening activities in the RAN domain to comply with the NSCS TSR security framework
  • Lead on implementing Security policies across the RAN estate, this will include design, builds, implementation, and testing activities
  • Prepare and assist with internal and external security-based TSR assessments/audits and provide risk-based recommendations in the RAN domain
  • Assessment of RAN Site Design and RAN Hardware security vulnerabilities
  • Assessment of RAN processes vulnerabilities
  • Assessment of critical security patches on the RAN network elements

Experience:

  • Extensive experience and deep knowledge in 3G/4G/5G Mobile Network Design and Integration
  • Experience in leading RAN integration/connectivity design into SecGW and Core Network
  • Knowledge of security framework mainly NIST 800-53, ISO 27001, TSR
  • Understanding of network security, cloud security, application security, and software security
  • Understanding of 3GPP security features for air interface protection
  • Understanding of encryption and authentication protocols - the requirement of datasets and functions cryptographically protected from being compromised
  • Understanding of resiliency/redundancy methods employed across the RAN estate
  • Understanding of zero-touch provisioning process of the base stations
  • Management of risk remediation and mitigation in a RAN environment, driving risk owners to close outstanding issues, managing risk acceptance
  • Practical knowledge of risk assessment processes & methodologies to make risk-based recommendations, and/or requirements to adopt and deploy compensating controls for effective mitigating measures
