Radio Planner - Shared Rural Network - Permanent

Scotland ideally however this is flexible. The role will require some adhoc travel to Scotland

Role Purpose:

The role works primarily to support delivery of the Shared Rural Network programme across the UK, but may be called upon to support other areas of the business.

Responsibilities:

Be a Technical Authority in all aspects of mobile radio coverage planning in support of Network Roll-out

Work closely with the SRN team and provide a reliable source of reporting guided by the and on behalf of the head of radio

Manage the ingestion of various coverage plots from MNOs and provide the SRN team with feedback on coverage objectives as part of a change control process

Run radio coverage plots and provide results to the SRN team and input to the change control process

Working with MNO radio planning peers to ensure the timely delivery of MNO plots and ensure successful delivery of SRN objectives

Maintain Radio Planning Tool database and related database with SRN data updates

Maintain Radio Planning Tool with regards to changes in propagation models and general maintenance

Able to participate in cross MNO meetings to facilitate timely updates on various project progress

Understanding of the Network Rollout process and deliverables including various milestones used in Network Rollout

Experience of MSVs etc, although field work will be limited

Participate in speculative work that may offer the company future work streams

Essential Skills:

Experience of Network Rollout in the UK mobile industry, working in a Rollout Team

Extensive use of Atoll Radio Planning Software including:

Running LTE Coverage Predictions, RSRP and Best Server

Producing Coverage Reports based on pixel, premises or road coverage

Nominal Site planning and site candidate management

Updating network data sets including site lists, mapping and network elements such as antenna patterns

Desirable

Familiarity with database manipulation such as SQL to allow automation of Atoll data input/output although training will be provided

Radio propagation model tuning based on drive test and Carrier Wave surveys

High level appreciation of Transmission planning including connectivity, microwave link planning and fibre connectivity

Experience of using GIS tools such as MapInfo and/or QGIS
