OSS Solution Architect

Contract

Reading - 2 days onside once restriction lifted

The role will focus on leading the technical design throughout the delivery lifecycle of OSS sponsored projects across Business, IT, RAN, Core, Transport and Operations. Working closely with OSS Architects and Strategists, you will develop a clear understanding of the scope and capabilities, implementing clear solutions in a speedy, efficient, and cost-effective manner. You will ensure that the E2E solution designs deliver the business outcomes and align with the architectural standards from Strategy & Architecture across all technical areas.

Responsibilities.

These will comprise:

  • Defining and maintaining the architecture, domain roadmap to underpin technology and business strategy and outcomes
  • Elicitation, validation, and documentation of the refined functional and non-functional requirements from Business Stakeholders.
  • Development and documentation of flexible, scalable, cost effective and reliable end-to-end technical service designs, solution architecture, solving end-to-end design challenges that have significant interaction between multiple systems or domains.
  • Acting as a contact point for resolution of requirement and design issues, driving the design decision-making process by articulating options and implications, ensuring the design is appropriate, flexible and robust.
  • Work alongside cross-functional delivery teams including partners and vendors to support delivery throughout the delivery lifecycle and ensure solutions are delivered into production on time and meet the operational acceptance criteria.

Skills & Experience.

Essential Criteria:

  • Demonstrable experience of providing strategic, technical, decision making and problem-solving leadership for a technical domain and can demonstrate setting technical direction and quality/ standards for delivery and design.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders within the organization to act as the liaison between the business, other technical communities, and the 3rd party delivery teams to ensure the delivery of the business requirements. This should include the ability to convert business requirements into a technical solution and vice versa.
  • Experience in working in an environment where you have managed delivery to a predetermined contractual/ business outcome and know how to influence/ negotiate technical outcomes with 3rd parties including conflict resolution due to changing priorities.
  • You will have provided direction to large technical delivery programmes that include complex integrations spanning multiple technology domains and stakeholders including working with a systems Integrator to deliver contracted outcomes.
  • Proven capability to communicate the realisation of transformation benefits, articulate complex problem statements simply and manage escalations through to successful resolution.
  • Strong commercial and partner management experience, including managing interlocking dependencies across multiple contracts, understanding of the use of complex commercial frameworks to assure the deliverable commitments and contracted outcomes from our partners.
  • In depth understanding of OSS architecture, solution design and delivery. OSS Domain specific knowledge & experience of OSS solution design and delivery.
  • Experience in defining and governing the architecture, domain roadmap to underpin technology and business strategy and outcomes.
  • Experience of working on complex projects across multiple domains as a technical lead with responsibility for the end-to-end design
  • Experience of estimating effort and duration of delivering Service Designs.
  • The ability and adaptability to identify and describe complex technical solutions and challenges to technical and non-technical stakeholders in terms suitable for the target audience.

Desirable criteria

  • TOGAF and/or TMF (TAM, SID or eTOM) certification or practical experience
  • Knowledge of ITIL or similar frameworks for delivery into Operational environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder and relationship management
  • Programme Management experience.
