Type: Contract

Location: Basingstoke (3-4 days on site and remaining from home)

Job Description:

We are looking for a Network Engineer, to join the existing dynamic Integration and Networks Practice of a global IT company. They will work closely with the existing Network Engineers and Architects to configure and implement solutions, on a wide variety of network solutions, which vary in size and complexity. Working alongside a team of dedicated professionals, you will be driven to find better, faster, more effective solutions.

What you can expect to be doing:

  • Support or technical implementation background and willing to progress into a Network Design/Architect role.
  • Provide day-to-day support to the Programme and Project Managers to implement the required network design changes within a number of work streams.
  • Support the project and service teams with delivery and operational challenges.
  • Experienced in configuring, implementing and testing Cisco and JunOS network devices.
  • Provide input to the LLD components for specific key areas of the solution primarily focused on LAN design and change but may also include WAN, other network infrastructure, etc.
  • Ensure designs produced are fit for purpose for review and approval.
  • Provide input into reports, when required, to the customer and Network Architects.
  • Understanding of a variety of network and routing protocols.
  • Troubleshooting skills and approach to defect resolution.

What we are looking for:

  • Producing low level design artefacts including network diagrams and configuration build documentation.
  • Proposing and utilising technologies from a variety of industry leading technology vendors.
  • Demonstrable experience in the creation of IP Addressing designs or in the configuration and support of said design.
  • Demonstrable understanding of IP protocols such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and of IPSEC tunnels and able to troubleshoot them.
  • Good knowledge of firewalls both Cisco and Juniper.
  • NTP knowledge including configuration
  • Familiar with LAN based fibre types and associated hardware.
  • Familiar with using network design tools.
  • Cisco CCNA, or Juniper JNCIA or equivalent experience.
  • Able to be flexible to provide support, including out-of-hours support, as and when required.
  • Self-motivated, excellent communications skills (with different teams), willing to share knowledge, able to take ownership and responsibility and make quick decisions
