Job Title: Mandarin Chinese Speaking (Senior) R&D Test Engineer

Reports To: R&D Team Lead

Working Hours: 09.00 - 17.30; Monday - Friday, with a 1 hour break, total 37.5 hours per week

Full-time permanent role in Ipswich UK, circa £50k - £64k

Our client's Ipswich Research Centre is looking at for a R&D Test Engineer with experience in testing optoelectronic devices. As part of R&D Test Team, you'll be responsible to develop test rig prototypes (HW & SW) & test methodology to develop next generation devices in close cooperation with Design team & later support its transfer to NPI phase.

We wish to recruit a highly motivated professional with experience in III-V semiconductor physics & ability to quickly setup rig prototype to validate new devices and/or test methodologies. Solid knowledge of statistic tools & ability to organise data in report are essential to ensure a data-driven development & effective co-operation with other teams in the organisation.

We are looking for an individual who is capable to work calmly under pressure in a fast pace environment with great attention to details.

Main Responsibilities

• Develop test rig prototypes (HW & SW) & test methodology
• Plan, develop & execute project-based test strategy
• Test devices & technical reports of finding/proposed improvements
• Engage with supplier to buy off-the-shelf/customised solution to fit project requirements
• Transfer test methodology to Backend team & support them during NPI phase

Skills/Qualifications

Essential

• PhD in physics, preferable in optoelectronics
• In-depth/Good knowledge of III-V optoelectronic device physics
• Knowledge of optoelectronic device testing from DC to RF
• Solid knowledge of statistics tools (SW like Minitab or similar is a plus)

Desirable

• Knowledge of LabVIEW or other automation SW
• Previous experience in Telecom
• Knowledge of lean, six sigma toolset
• Knowledge of design and/or fabricating process of III-V optoelectronic devices.
• Optoelectronic industry reliability standard.
• ISO9001 or equivalent Quality Management System
