LEAD 3RD LINE NETWORK ENGINEER- CONTRACT - REMOTE WORKING

Leading Managed Services Provider in the Public and Defence Sector require a Sr. Lead 3rd Line Network Engineer. The role is to provide the skills necessary to support the NOC Network Operations Centre. Working as a Senior Lead 3rd Line Network Engineer in an Operations, Implementations and Training Role. The role holder works with under general direction with substantial responsibility and autonomy for planning and delivering their work. Recognized as a knowledge leader, supporting less experienced staff, the role holder performs varied and complex technical and professional activities and investigations, along with taking an analytical and systematic approach to problem solving. The role holder also delivers medium/high complexity work packages as part of customer implementation projects.

Mandatory Skills:

  • Citrix NetScaler Skillset is a must for this Network Role.
  • NetScaler access gateway - preferably with the certification "CCP-AppDS" in access gateway

  • General understanding of networking (sub-netting)
  • Able to carry out network management discovery work with a solid understanding of customer estate
  • Knowledge and understanding of the network design process
  • IPAM and IP address reservation
  • Understanding of Wireless Technologies, preferable Aruba, Cisco, Juniper
  • Troubleshooting Aruba devices during migration from switching & routing perspective
  • Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot workstation connectivity issues (DHCP/VLAN)
  • Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot office telephony issues (VoIP/SIP)
  • Wireless LAN (Aruba/Meraki), LAN (switching), WAN (routing), VOIP/Telephony & SDWAN Technologies

Key Requirements:

  • Supporting the identification of software versions for network devices, prior to end of support or upon bug identification.
  • Supporting the identification of supported hardware versions for network devices, prior to end of support or upon bug identification.
  • Supporting high priority patching in the event of vulnerabilities or cyber threats.
  • Provide support in arranging all security processes to support all types of logistical aspects of network maintenance.
  • Supporting of upgrade activities such as arranging upgrade schedules, coordinating engineering resource and representation at change boards through to delivery and support of engineers in activities.
  • Monthly asset validation into the appropriate database or asset data dump. Updates to this data and detailed reporting on an Ad Hoc basis.
  • Supporting of the planning of certificate renewals for network devices, prior to expiry including procurement
  • Co-ordination of certificate replacement activities such as arrange implementation schedules, arranging engineers and attending change boards
  • Updating of maintenance reports weekly & monthly, service reports, and feed into service roadmaps through to management.
  • Engagement with Projects to understand deliverables, timescales, documentation, training, etc.
  • Provide Network engineering resource to carry out all aspects of maintenance activities during and outside of business hours.
