Currently recruiting for IT - Delivery Manager to join my client - a leading Telecom Company, on a contract basis. This position will be remote until pandemic, then 1-2 days in office (Reading).

Role Title : IT Delivery Manager

Postion : Contract

The role of the IT Delivery Manager is to set up and manage the delivery of outcomes for the business through the provision of end-to-end projects. You will ensure that the benefits and outcomes are defined and delivered whilst effectively controlling scope, dependencies, risks and issues. You will take ownership of the initiatives and drive them from concept to closure to time, cost and quality measures.

Required Skills :

  • Significant proven experience and demonstrable ability in delivering major projects
  • Able to lead and matrix manage a project team including multiple partners, delivering to meet business objectives and programme outcomes
  • Highly proficient in Project Management principles, methods, techniques, and tools for the effective management of projects from initiation through to implementation and closure
  • Experience of working within a delivery organisation that supports different delivery models, for example, but not limited to, Agile, Scrum, large scale releases.
  • Experience of working within the IT Software Delivery Lifecycle and knowledge of key concepts of development and testing.
  • Experience of working within a complex IT environment with significant volume of change
  • Project Management experience, with appropriate qualification or accreditation, for example, but not limited to Prince2, PMI, etc

Nice to Have:

  • Experience of working within mobile telecoms industry.
  • Understanding of different IT delivery methodologies, such as Agile, Scrum, Lean
  • A clear communicator - experience of working with and influencing various levels of management, building relationships and influence across teams and a wider community of other leaders and managers.
  • Ability to lead, make decisions, problem solve and work within teams. Can demonstrate flexibility and agility to move between role types within teams.
  • Can demonstrate the ability to gather, analyse and present information in business terms for management and leadership consumption.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment that shows flexibility, resiliency, self-awareness and ability to support other team members

Key Responsibilities:

  • The requirements of the role and deliverables will vary subject to the delivery and partner engagement / delivery model that will be required. You will act as the point of contact to engage and support business, technical and external stakeholders.
  • You will identify, build, lead and manage cross-functional project teams, including 3rd party engagement and management, to achieve the desired project outcomes.
  • Ensure effective management of any cross functional/programme dependencies.
  • Where applicable, you will work with the Programme Manager to ensure project output is aligned to overall programme direction.
  • You will be accountable for the delivery of outcomes, taking ownership of the project and proactively driving throughout the delivery lifecycle from initiation through to closure.
  • Reporting of the progress of each project based on transparent KPIs, the current RAG status, and back to Green plan if required.
  • Ensure proactive and effective communication to cross functional team, business owners & key stakeholders.
  • Ensure roles and responsibilities of the project team are defined and communicated to project team and key stakeholders.
  • Drive and manage effective and timely decision-making based on achievement of desired project outcomes.
  • Ensure delivery criteria is met in line with the delivery framework and governance is adhered to.
  • Manage Risks, Actions, Issues and Dependencies (RAID) in a timely manner and manage stakeholder and programme management expectations for projects. Manage escalations as required.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, capturing and implementing learnings and improvements from previous deliveries.
