Job Description

Summary

Working for a major mobile telecoms company in Reading, we are recruiting for a skilled IP Network Architect, to oversee the delivery of key projects for their Cloud transformation programme.

Role

Working closely with various Managed Service Partners, you will produce, update and govern IP architectures and ensure that each design adheres to these defined architectures and principles.

The role will involve producing, updating and governing IP network architecture for the various transformation solutions, including but not limited to the following:

  • IP High Level Architecture and Migration Strategy for IT Transformation Network
  • IP High Level Architectures for the Core Transformation Network
  • IP High Level Architectures for the RAN transformation Network
  • E2E Transport Architectural Principles

Required Skills

Must-have

*CCIE certification*

Excellent overall understanding of IP within a service provider or IT enterprise environment.

Up-to-date knowledge of future technologies, equipment and their benefits.

Ability to know when to implement solutions with consideration to the wider impacts i.e. cost, customer impact, timescales, etc.

Widespread knowledge of different IP vendor solutions and managed services.

Excellent knowledge and experience of fixed/mobile networks.

Significant experience of operating in an Architecture or Design role having end to end responsibility - spanning multiple technology domains.

Ability to steer solutions based on the overall architecture without dictating the design.

Experience of working in a technology based role and interfacing to a varied number of internal and external stakeholders

Excellent written and verbal presentation skills.

Ability to simplify analysis and present results clearly at all levels of the business - including at senior management team level.

Strategic and architectural knowledge of networking technologies such as:

  • Vendor Management experience
  • Datacentre Networking
  • IP Networking
  • Networking Services i.e. DDI - DNS, DHCP, IPAM, Load balancing - F5/Infoblox, NAT, etc
  • Software Defined Networking (SDN) - Nokia Nuage, Juniper, Cisco
  • Network Functions Virtualisation (NFV / VNF) and IT Virtualisation

Nice-to-have

Industry certifications in IP networking

Public Cloud networks solution experience

Network Security knowledge
