Job Description

Our client, a leading telecoms organisation are currently recruiting for an Internal Audit Manager to join their Risk and Compliance Team.

They operate a three lines of defence model. Most of the roles in the business are part of the first line of defence. That's where their core processes are operated and generally where the risks of not complying with laws and regulations are generated.

This role is part of the second line of defence. Here, they play a check and balance role and set the standards that the business must adhere to. The team are specialists in compliance and provide oversight of the functions in the first line of defence.

The Third line of defence is the internal audit capability provided by their parent company. Internal audit's role is to provide independent assurance over the first and second lines of defence. They do that partly through identifying areas of weakness and requiring them to act to address those weaknesses.

In this role you'll be the key point of contact between the client and their parent company's internal audit team.

You'll be responsible for working across every part of the organisation, supporting them as they implement the actions they've agreed to take to address weaknesses identified through internal audits.

Initially, your focus will be on quickly improving the quality of data we record in respect of audit actions and giving a clear picture of the client's current position and performance.

A key part of the role will be helping every part of the company improve its performance in executing audit actions within the agreed timelines.

You'll also be embedding improved governance within the business to ensure accountabilities are clear and the improvements they make are self-sustaining. That improved governance will include improvements to the way they record actions and progress in delivering them and in the quality and accuracy of that data.

We are looking for someone who can have a big impact on these challenges in a short space of time. We need someone who has internal audit experience and is confident in working with and challenging stakeholders at all levels of the organisation to bring about the improvements we need.

We'll expect you to demonstrate that you've had experience of driving a business to complete actions on time and used appropriate influencing skills to keep stakeholders engaged and supportive in achieving that.

We need someone who can bring lots of energy and enthusiasm to this task and demonstrate passion for making sustainable improvements in Three's governance of its audit actions.
