Infrastructure Architect - Azure - 6 month initial contract - Berkshire - Mobile Telecoms

Context and purpose:

The delivery of new IT services to support new applications and services is a key part of the overall business strategy and underpins the success of the business. IT Infrastructure Services support the implementation of new IT systems through the design and build of new IT platforms to host business applications.

IT Infrastructure Services are responsible for delivering IT infrastructure within the company, supporting over 200 significant new Infrastructure requests per year.

Scope:

Responsible for Infrastructure Architecture strategy and design governance for Microsoft Infrastructure and Corporate IT services.

The role will be required to work closely with the Infrastructure Delivery team, outsourced delivery functions, and other areas within the business to ensure the successful delivery of new Infrastructure services.

Responsibilities

• Key is Cost Optimisation. Working with Stakeholders to ensure we optimise usage.
• Technology Changes in Azure that would benefit Three
• Moving Applications to Containers
• Government system Design and Delivery
• Big Insights platform - Infrastructure impacts
• Governance of ALL Infrastructure related activity.
• Automation of Application/Infrastructure deployments
• Capacity Management
• Governance of Third Party who Manage and Operate the Infrastructure.

Responsible for architecture design governance for Data Centre services, including:

• Microsoft Azure
• Microsoft Server Technologies, such as Windows Server, Active Directory, SQL and Exchange
• VMWare Data Centre Virtualisation and Cloud Infrastructure
• Citrix App and Desktop Virtualisation, as well as NetScaler
• x86 Server hardware

Must Have:

• Experience of Infrastructure design
• Solid background in IT Infrastructure technology fundamentals such as Microsoft Infrastructure, Virtualisation, Remote Access solutions, Identity Management, SAN, Networking (LAN & WAN), Linux.
• Good understanding of Cloud Technologies - Microsoft Azure
• Experience of end to end delivery within IT Infrastructure
• Experience of IT delivery utilising 3rd party partners to provide IT Infrastructure
• Experience working within a large enterprise IT function
