Job Description

Digital Content Designer

12 Month Contract

Reading/ Hybrid working - 1 or 2 days a week in the office.

We are recruiting for a Digital Content Designer at a large UK telecoms infrastructure company based in Theale (2 days and remote 3 days). This role is a 12 month contract opportunity.

Background:

We are building something special at Three: an in-house agency that is going to re-energise the brand and take our marketing effort to new heights.

The agency's remit extends beyond comms channels to our web and app platforms, and we need a strong digital designer to join our team.

This role is one of five content designers who will sit within the creative team of the IHA and report into a Senior Designer. Day-to-day responsibilities will be carried out within scrum teams. This means collaborating not only with our digital copywriters, but also with colleagues from UX, development and other digital disciplines. The right candidate will be a high quality practitioner who can provide expert design inputs to the scrum team and produce design outputs that are enticing, user-friendly and distinctively on brand.

Key Responsibilities:

Create the conditions for the success of the in-house agency. Deliver against our creative ambitions for the brand, by working to the In-House Agency's plan for how this will be achieved. Use your specialist digital knowledge and experience, your design abilities and your personality to contribute to the IHA team's goals. Be pro-active at all times: bring energy, share ideas and help make this a team that talented people want to be a part of.

Demonstrate design leadership within the scrum teams. You will be guided, mentored and directed by a Senior Designer within the IHA creative team. However, you will spend much of your time working autonomously with colleagues in project-specific scrum teams. You will be the voice of design in your scrum teams: using your expertise and experience to lead, educate and challenge your colleagues to ensure the brand is faithfully represented throughout. It is therefore important to be a good communicator who can express their needs and ideas clearly.

Deliver high quality work. Deliver brand-enhancing design work across all our web and app interfaces. The complexity of this work may vary and you need to bring the same levels of enthusiasm to the design of simple landing pages and promotions as you do to more ambitious briefs. Respond to all briefs with care and apply existing guidelines diligently to ensure work is 'right first time'. Present work and, where required, construct design rationales. Be proactive and fully accountable for your deliverables and deadlines.

Demonstrate digital leadership within the IHA team and its internal customers. Build strong relationships with the rest of the IHA team, as well as with marketing and other roles that brief the IHA. "Lead from the middle" by helping your colleagues to learn more about the specific needs and opportunities offered by our digital platforms and to pay attention to these when briefing or reviewing work. Become particularly knowledgeable about the back-end system being developed at Three and how to design in order to maximise its potential.

Be constantly curious. Take proactive steps to be aware of relevant design, technology & cultural trends. Have a thirst for developing your ability to create and shape well thought through user experiences and delightful user interfaces. Continually find ways to develop your eye for composition and layout.

Help both the In-House Agency and your scrum team to run efficiently and effectively Support agreed ways of working, taking direction as appropriate, to work efficiently and effectively. Make good use of systems, tools and processes designed to help you achieve this. Demonstrate respect for all individuals with whom you are collaborating and show due regard for timelines, budgets and other constraints inherent in the brief.

Person Specification:

  • A minimum of 5 years extensive expertise in both web and app design. You will have a particular flair for visual user interface design, based on experience of creating digital experiences for leading brands.
  • A proven track record & outstanding visual portfolio, showing you can craft distinctive designs for at least an AA standard across both web and app platforms,
  • Proficiency in all Adobe Creative Suite essential: INDESIGN, PHOTOSHOP, ILLUSTRATOR; 3D and moving image skills a bonus
  • You will be able to demonstrate a passion for working with an Agile mindset and have extensive experience of collaborating as part of Scrum teams
  • A sound understanding of user experience best practice is required, so that you can contribute to UX discussions and work highly collaboratively with the UX team.
  • Experience in prototyping using Marvel, Azure, InVision or similar would be beneficial, as would the ability to develop wireframes if required, using Sketch or similar.
