Job Description

CLUSTER VENUE TELCOM MANAGER - CONTRACT -BIRMINGHAM

Leading Managed Services Provider in the Defence Sector require a Cluster Venue Telecommunication Managers (C-VTCMs) to join their ongoing project.

Duration: 3 months

Location: Birmingham onsite required- HYBRID

Cluster Venue Telecommunication Managers (C-VTCMs) are key roles delivering the project solution into the sites/venues throughout the survey, design and build activities as well as managing the support into the sites/venues during the Games and their decommissioning. It is extremely important to recognise that the entire operational lifecycle of the venues implemented will be no more than three months and each can be decommissioned once the events planned are completed.

The C-VTCM role has two elements:

  1. The responsibility for the delivery of sites and venues;
  • The successful implementation of the agreed network/cabling designs into a selection of the venues and sites to ensure that they are successfully tested and handed over to the steady state service that will be in-place to provide support to users in the run-up and delivery of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games. The part of the role will complete when all venues implemented by the role are tested and passed as complete and formally signed-off by the customer. Each C-VTCM will have a specific series of sites to be delivered.
  • The role will be accountable for the successful delivery by, and the performance of, a series of technical teams. It will therefore manage and be accountable for the teams specifically tasked with the delivery of the venues and sites listed within their remit. Please note, this does not include technical ownership or accountability for the solution that will be managed and monitored through the Client Design Authority along with the Organising Committee (OC, customer).
  • Any defects identified during testing and their remediation will be managed by the C-VTCM concerned.

  1. Provide support and management over the sites/venues contained within their specific clusters during the games. This role will, on delivery of the sites/venues, transform into that to support the Steady State.

They will be responsible for ensuring that the recruitment of the team delivering support for their cluster is successful, the completion of their training and that they are embedded into the support organisation. Ultimately, the role will be accountable for the readiness of their sites and venues for the start of the final preparation for the games. They will need to work in close association with the service designer/architect to understand the details of the support to be provided and thus they will therefore manage and be accountable for their teams. Please note that, as before, the technical ownership or accountability for the solution will be managed and monitored through the FDA and the OC.

RAID and Change Management will be crucial activities under the management of the role as well as day-to-day issue management (both during the build and support activities); all of which are to be reported into the Programme Director.

It is crucial that the Cluster VTCM creates and maintains a close project relationship with the FDA and the other C-VTCM and VTCM roles to ensure that the programme's technical and delivery organisations are closely coordinated to achieve the dates agreed.

  • Full time, overtime by agreement with the Programme Director.

  • Budget Management and Reporting;
  • Transfer into steady-state support.

  • Effective and efficient resourcing of their teams, with escalation to the Programme Director as required.
  • Management of RAID.
  • To ensure that regular communications are made to, and meetings are held with, other elements of the project.
