Job Description

Job Title: Automatic Test Equipment Software Engineer

Location: Ipswich, UK

Overall

We are looking for an experienced C# Software Developer to build and implement ATE systems (Automatic Test Equipment) and desktop manufacturing operations applications\tools.

This role involves automation of instruments for photonics products test and measurements and to work as part of a development team to develop a standardise\modular test executive.

Your goal will be to build efficient test software & systems that serve user needs along with maintaining existing test software.

The successful candidate must be willing to build upon their own development / technical knowledge to ensure that the latest practices are implemented where possible.

Main Responsibilities

  • Micro project management of software developments
  • Develop in house automated platforms for photonics test and measurements
  • Produce clean, efficient code based on test and systems requirements
  • Verify and deploy version controlled release packages
  • Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing software
  • Create technical documentation for reference and reporting
  • Communicate and build specifications based on customer requirements.
  • Provide professional levels of support to end users

Skills/Qualifications

Essential

  • Minimum 3 years' experience designing and building software to a professional standard
  • Development experience in C# and SQL DB
  • Remote control and automation of instrumentation - GPIB, USB, Ethernet, etc
  • Experience with instruments such as Optical Spectrum Analysers, Optical Power Meters, Current & Voltage Source Measurement Units such as Keithley, Keysight, Anritsu, etc
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Desirable

  • Agile software development practices
  • Experience in test automation in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in either C++, Labview or Python
  • Fundamental in electronics
  • Post-graduate qualification in a relevant technology area
