Job Description

Project People are supporting a SEN school based South London. The school is seeking to appoint an experienced Assistant Headteacher as soon as possible for the right person on a permanent basis.

The school caters for children who have experienced a variety of issues within mainstream school settings and all pupils have an EHCP to support the delivery of meeting their needs.

You will be support the Head of School with the leadership of the school, with a key focus on the success and continuous improvement of high quality education for all its pupils, by offering the highest standards of learning, care and achievement in accordance with statutory requirements.

Pupils at benefit from high quality teaching within small classes and have access to a range of GCSE and equivalent qualifications, as well as the close relationships that are developed within a small setting where everyone knows each other and works together. You will be working with a range of professionals, such the Safer Schools Officer, a Speech and Language therapist, Educational Psychologist and CAMHS worker.

The newly appointed Assistant Headteacher will be responsible for providing leadership and direction for the continuing improvement of the school and contribute to developing the overall provision for pupils.

You will be responsible for leading the personal development, behaviour and welfare provision across the school for all pupils; as well as improving outcomes for all students by removing barriers to progress, being the key pastoral lead and responsible for the Social Development Opportunity Programme and lead the Careers provision.

KEY EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Proven track record of leading and teaching across a broad age and ability range in a special school, PRU and/or mainstream school
  • High level of experience in leading and managing behaviour and attendance
  • Successful experience of supporting high quality teaching and learning
  • Proven track record of supporting school improvement and raising standards
  • Successful experience of leading and motivating staff through collaboration and distributed leadership

SALARY: Leadership scale 9 - 13 (Inner London)
