Description

Area: Basingstoke

We have an urgent opening with one of our multinational IT service provider client to package applications for an Operating System upgrade (Windows 7 to Windows 10) on a Command & Control infrastructure. Operating under an Agile Sprint regime, the Apps Packager will develop and produce automated application installation packages for the core infrastructure and the business applications.

The Apps Packager will report to the Solution Build Lead and Design Authority (Principal Architect). The Apps Packager will be part of the Team and will liaise with the current SMEs for Infrastructure, Applications and Networking as required.

The Apps Packager will need to be comfortable working in an Agile/Scrum environment; be happy to engage with Customers/Users; be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines; and be flexible and amenable to work from premises but potentially Client sites.

The role holders will be responsible for the ownership & delivery of the required packages and documentation for the core infrastructure components and the applications installed on the platform, cognisant of the underlying security requirements.

Critical Application Packager Skills Required:
* Develop and produce automated application installation packages for the following:
o Group Policy Objects
o McAfee ePO
o MS Exchange
o HCL Domino
o McAfee Data Protector
o Sametime Client
o Office 2016 and Outlook
o Windows Remote Administration Tools
o Other third party applications.
* Produce and package scripts to automatically configure the above
Mandatory Skills Required:
* General Knowledge of Applications Deployment
* Integration of applications into an automated 'lite touch' client deployment
* Experience of operating within an Agile/Scrum environment
* Systems and Software Engineering background including all aspects of the solution lifecycle
* Can deliver a broad technical solution against designs or specifications
* Able to provide technical thought leadership
* Experience of working with 3rd party suppliers
* Strong client facing skills
* Knowledge and experience of the take on and implementation of applications and any associated components
* Knowledge and experience of Microsoft and Unix technologies
* Knowledge and experience of Virtualisation technologies
* Good communications skills, written and verbal presentation
* Technical knowledge of IT systems, security policies and enforcement
* Knowledge and experience of implementing solutions
* Knowledge of End-User Applications implementation
