WINDOWS ENGINEERS - 2 ROLES - REMOTE - CONTRACT- TELFORD

Leading Managed Services Provider in the Public and Defence Sector requires a Windows Engineers to join our customer's Data Centre Exit team. As part of a small team within a large Data Centre Exit Programme, your role will be to work client-side to deliver migration support services and to make changes to Windows platforms hosting IT services critical to our Customer.

Key responsibilities include -

  • Backup and restore of system images and volumes,
  • Stop start services,
  • Removal and clean-up of tooling
  • Map storage volumes to VMs and map VLANs to VMs
  • Revert the service to the source location
  • Quiesce the service in the source location

You will be empowered to identity better ways of doing things and to share your ideas. You will be supported by a Service implementation Manager, who will look after your wellbeing and ensure you receive work that befits your skills. Most of the project work is expected to be in normal hours, but you could also be offered to work out of hours.

**A national security clearance is required for this role but candidates not holding this level of clearance will be considered**

Duration: 6 Months initially

Remote working but must be able to travel to Telford as required

Your experience -

  • At least 5-10 years' experience of supporting (2nd to 3rd Line) Windows servers and platforms within large scale and infrastructures (1000+ servers).
  • Significant knowledge of Windows domain infrastructure.
  • Technical leadership during projects and live service events.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal communication.
  • Have a proven problem-solving ability.
  • Proactive approach to personal workload management.
  • Awareness of the ITIL Service Management framework and specifically incident and change management.

Essential skills:

  • Significant Windows Server experience, ideally in Windows Server 2008, 2012 and 2016.
  • In depth knowledge of Windows Domain Infrastructure including Active Directory, Keytabs, DNS, DHCP and Public Key Infrastructure.
  • Administrative scripting utilising Visual Basic and/or Powershell.

Desirable Skills:

  • Understanding of Clustering, SCCM and Enterprise Management monitoring and software delivery toolsets.
  • Understanding of Virtualization principles, including VMWare and Hyper-V.
  • Understanding of Cloud computing principles, including Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.
  • Knowledge of Bladelogic toolset.
  • Knowledge of CA IT Client Manager toolset
