Job Description

An exciting new opportunity for a Financial Accounting Manager with a well-known UK Telecoms Infrastructure company. This is a perm position that will be based in Theale, Reading with hybrid working.

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE

  • Coordination of financial reporting processes, including shareholder reporting
  • Coordination of audit activities: 3 annual audits
  • Responsibility for company's accounting for overheads and other operating costs (£35m per annum), fixed assets (£760m net book value) and assets under construction (£175m)
  • Coordination of balance sheet reconciliation processes
  • Lead on company's corporation tax returns and accounting policies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Financial Accounting & Reporting
  • Manage month-end close processes to timetable.
  • Ensure balance sheet is accurate and fully reconciled.
  • Maintain balance sheet ownership matrix.
  • Review reconciliations, ensure format and content of reconciliations is suitable.
  • Secure required approvals for balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and Cornerstone accounting policies.
  • Leadership of improvement projects.
  • Maintain balance sheet risks & opportunities schedule.
  • Monthly commentary on balance sheet movements, analysis of moves.
  • Review of month-end TB.
  • Shareholder reporting.
  • Intercompany reconciliation process.
  • Accounting for overheads and other operating costs.
  • Payroll, bonus.
  • Associated balance sheet recs.
  • Accounting for fixed assets and work-in-progress.
  • Lead internal review meetings of monthly results.
  • Statutory Reporting & Audit
  • Preparation of statutory accounts.
  • Accounting Policies & Procedures
  • Review and maintain accounting policy documentation.
  • Technical accounting guidance to finance team, including IFRS 16.
  • Controls
  • Controls documentation, including SOX and ISO accreditation support.
  • Corporation Tax returns, with support from external advisors.
  • Tax compliance - Corporation Tax, VAT, employee taxes / PSA.
  • Balance sheet forecasting and budgeting.
  • Work with Systems Accountant to support optimum finance system configuration for accounting processes.
  • Management of two Finance Analysts (other operating costs and fixed assets).

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Experience (technical, managerial, industry) Experience of leading financial reporting processes, including preparation of final TBs, and reporting of results for management review.
  • Preparation of statutory accounts.
  • Familiarity with IFRS.
  • Preparation of technical accounting papers and guidance.
  • Preparation of corporation tax returns.
  • Development, implementation and maintenance of financial controls
  • Familiarity with finance systems.
  • Audit management experience ("Big 4" an advantage)
  • Joint venture experience.
  • Agresso experience.
  • Group consolidation experience.
  • Telecoms experience.
  • Education level / Qualifications (professional, vocational)
  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA).
  • Strong A level and GCSE results.
  • Relevant degree (e.g. business, finance, economics).

Skills / Knowledge

  • Strong technical accountant. Familiarity with IFRS accounting standards.

  • Proficient in Excel and completion of reporting templates.
