Senior Solution Architect

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Solution Architect to work in a multi-disciplined agile SCRUM team to develop digital services for our customer. This role will be working alongside our customer developing a crucial part of their Digital Transformation Strategy to support Public Service Reform.

The individual will be part of a core team that is responsible for Agile Development and delivering the minimal viable requirements as determined by the Customer. The nature of the role means co-creation will be a key part of our success and will therefore there will be an initial requirement to be based on site working alongside the customer in Guernsey as one complete team. In the longer term, more remote working may be possible with travel as required.

You will have experience of working with Agile, typically SCRUM, and will quickly understand requirements and be able to demonstrate this by fast turnaround prototyping using development frameworks such as Spring or Django.

You will be prepared to learn and adopt new frameworks and technologies as they becomes available. In addition, you will be able to advise, coach, mentor more junior members of the team.

Essentially, you will be pro-active, a good communicator, an excellent team-player and prepared to learn quickly and adapt to new requirements, new technologies and new challenges.

Primary responsibilities:

• To assist the Scrum teams to deliver business value now and in the future and ensure the team implements good techniques and practices.
• Disseminate good techniques and practices
• Review designs from a strategic point-of-view
• Assist teams to align their techniques and practices
• Provide insight into the way things are done and guidance to implement the digital design standards
• Ensure quality issues are addressed
• Agile Design and Architecture.
• Collaborate with other architects/ developers to produce just enough design
• Technical documentation
• Responsible for Continuous Integration and Build
• Collaborate with the Agile Customer to assign business value to technical stories.

Mandatory skills:

• Previous solution architect experience
• Good understanding of software engineering practices and demonstrable experience in software development frameworks for example Django or Spring
• Enabling excellent solution through the use of appropriate tools and technologies and a good understanding of development frameworks
• Understanding of Agile estimating and planning and good knowledge of Agile practices, including scrum
• Good communication skills (Team, Product owner, stakeholder)
• The ability to rapidly respond to changing requirements and deliver Minimal Viable Requirements
• Experience in a client-facing role; liaising with clients and participating in requirements gathering and design workshops
• Experience of API management tools such as APIgee would be an advantage
• Excellent knowledge of Solution Life Cycle
• Travel and flexible working as required
