Senior Legal Counsel - Contract or Permanent - Maidenhead

Fantastic opportunity available with a leading Telecoms organisation on a contract or permanent basis for an experienced Lawyer/Legal counsel who can demonstrate 8 years PQE . The Marketing, Media and Intellectual Property Legal (MMI) team is the legal engine room supporting my client's fast moving Marketing and Digital functions. The MMI team works closely to support the Digital team which is on a journey of unprecedented growth, investment and diversification, powered by digital platforms, disruptive propositions and customer data. The MMI team manages contractual relations with a range of partners, agencies and suppliers. These include marketing and PR agencies, co-marketing partners, providers of new applications and services, customer data service providers and device suppliers. We also support the delivery of advertising campaigns and marketing propositions, keep our competitors' advertising honest, manage the intellectual property portfolio and work closely with the new Digital function to deliver cutting-edge products.

We're looking for a talented, versatile and experienced Senior Lawyer to work on the broad range of commercial Marketing and Digital deals the team supports.

You'll need to be comfortable crunching data protection issues with a global marketing platform, working on commercial terms with a video streaming channel or agreeing indemnities with a cool creative marketing agency.

This is a great opportunity to drive new deals in the rapidly developing world of digital mobile, building strong relationships both within Three and across the industry. You'll work on ground-breaking customer propositions, developing best practice and new ways of tackling customer challenges.

Reporting to the Head of Legal: Marketing, Media & Intellectual Property you'll be happy to work independently, including on complex projects. You'll need the ability to view situations from a commercial or wider business perspective (analysing risks and opportunities), consider the deal in the context of the business strategy and deliver the best possible outcomes in a timely manner. You will be comfortable presenting to and influencing senior leadership and you'll become an influential part of the business.

Job Context

This role reports to the Head of Legal: Marketing, Media & IP and is responsible for the provision of legal support to the Marketing and Digital functions and deal with all matters arising from those areas such as marketing agency agreements and clearance work as well as digital customer propositions.

You will be expected to work independently (including on complex projects) with little or no supervision.

You will have the ability to view situations from a commercial or wider business perspective (analysing risks and opportunities) and deliver the best possible outcomes for Three in a timely manner.

You will be expected to present to and influence senior leadership.

Role & Responsibilities

To provide leading subject matter legal expertise on specific areas facing Three. Utilising extensive industry knowledge and technical capability in order to drive innovative compliance solutions within Three.

Working cross functionally with a variety of stakeholders at all levels of the business to enable the achievement of business outcomes.

Mentoring legal counsel on areas of law as well as softer skills enabling them to develop the right level of subject matter expertise to further support the future growth of the business.

Substantial general work experience together with comprehensive job related experience in own area of expertise to fully competent level.

Managerial Experience

Experience of general supervision of more junior colleagues

Additional Information

  • LLB degree and typically at least 8 PQE with experience including with a major national or international law firm
