Senior Field Operations Engineering Manager - Microwave

We are looking for a Senior Field Operations Engineering Manager - Microwave in the London area to be part of our Global Network Architecture team. This technician will work out of our London office and travel to various sites.

Working directly on our network and only our network, you will play a key role in innovation around our network standards and processes by providing field feedback to our network team. You will be part of our team and play a key role in innovating and contributing to this network's growing success.

Proficiency in microwave installations, path alignments and troubleshooting is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond quickly and effectively to resolve all trouble tickets raised by the Network Services and Operations team within applicable policies, standards and SLA timeframes
  • Perform pre-construction site walks jointly with contractors and landlords
  • Act as an onsite representative to supervise construction activities and interface to contractors and landlords during the build
  • Perform ground level work such as device integration and wiring inside communications cabinets
  • Support contractor installation activities on towers and rooftops (working at height - in some cases above 150m AGL) including line and antenna installation, grounding/electrical tasks, microwave path alignments and troubleshooting
  • Perform post-construction site audits at ground level and at height
  • Contribute to Scope of Work documents and other technical documents
  • Periodically provide project management services for new deployments, including bid and contract award, hardware procurement and logistics, resource scheduling, supervision and project closeout
  • Report on and update job progress and provide daily reporting as required
  • Monitor/review closeout documentation, keep site documentation up to date and ensure consistent quality standard across all sites, suggest/implement improvements to Scope of Work when applicable
  • Accurately set timeline expectations around completion of projects and tasks
  • Maintain regular communication with internal teams on all project/task deliverables
  • Develop and implement regular full network auditing plans to ensure operating standards are being upheld
  • Keep stakeholders well-informed about operational and maintenance issues associated with sites
  • Operate and ensure maintenance of all supporting equipment, such as vehicles, tools and any other equipment needed by the team
  • Find and on-board new contractors to join our 3rd party support network

Required Experience:

  • Experience in a similar role
  • Ability to work in the field 75% of the time or more, mainly within the UK and occasionally in continental Europe
  • Willing to work on weekends shifts when required
  • All industry required certifications to work at height, install equipment on and maintain all sites and towers operated in the UK.
  • CPR/Basic First Aid
  • Extensive experience with path alignment and troubleshooting of microwave links
  • Experience with civil work, including concrete pad, steelwork and grounding work
  • Experience with electrical work, including breaker installation, power cabling and conduit work following normal safety protocols.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office Applications and intermediate/advanced general PC knowledge
  • Experience with sweep gear and network analysers, Anritsu certification is an asset
  • Must keep all required training/certifications up to date +/-
