Security Incident Analyst

6 Month Contract

Maidenhead, Berkshire

An exciting new contract opportunity has arisen working for a well known communications company based in Maidenhead for a Security Incident Analyst. This will be a 6 month initial contract looking to start as soon as possible.

Sitting within the CERT team within Risk & Security, your role as Security Incident Analyst will be to monitor, detect and respond to security threats to the systems. You will be proactively looking across a range of systems actively looking for threats or potential threats. We are after someone who thrives in challenging fast paced environments, someone who is always seeking to improve security and wants to play a pivotal role in helping shape and develop my clients' operation security.

As Security Incident Analyst your role will involve:

  • Continuous monitoring of security systems
  • Perform regular and ad-hoc vulnerability assessments
  • Reporting on vulnerabilities to the PVG via the alerts system
  • Conducting spot checks
  • Carryout light touch penetration testing with open source tooling (Metasploit)
  • Develop and maintain logging systems
  • Work with incident teams on incident related activities and determine whether a security incident

Skills & Experience required:

  • Experience performing security event and incident detection and handling in an operational environment such as SOC, CSIRT, CERT etc
  • Experience reviewing and analysing Security Events from various monitoring and logging sources
  • Experience in website and web application security assessment or penetration testing
  • Windows / Linux experience
  • TCP / IP networking protocol knowledge
  • Ideally have worked in a CERT type role / environment
  • Experienced in carrying out penetration testing and vulnerability testing
  • Working knowledge of Metasploit
  • Scripting knowledge would be an advantage
  • Confident working independently
