Job Description

R&D Test Engineer

Job Context

  • Taking the challenge to embrace the fast-changing optoelectronic industry,
  • Responsible for test strategy of R&D projects of cutting edge photonic integration technology for telecommunication industry,
  • Responsible for development and execution of test plan and method for next generation optoelectronic devices,
  • Responsible for improvement proposal of optoelectronic device performances by data analysis,
  • Liaising role between R&D Test Team and Project Team/other test team worldwide.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ownership of test strategy of photonic integration technology and device development project,
  • Defining test plan and design of test capability,
  • Execution of measurement task and ownership of test data analysis,
  • Working with R&D design teams to understand device behaviour,
  • Working with test equipment team to develop, verify purposed-built test system and transfer to production team,
  • Ownership of assigned tasks and deliver them on-time to the cost; management of work package for test technician/operator when required,
  • Any other ad hoc duty as requested by the Test and Validation Manager

Skills/Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc or higher in physics or a related physical science,
  • Demonstrable experience in the testing and measurement of optoelectronic devices,
  • Demonstrable experience of data analysis,
  • Willingness to travel as required on occasion,
  • Willingness of anticipation of internal and external training,
  • Flexible attitude to working hours.

Desirable

  • Academic experience in III-V optical device development and/or manufacture,
  • PhD in a relevant semiconductor/material or device design topic,
  • Software skill such as LabVEW, C++, Matlab, Python, Minitab, CAD, etc,
  • Project management skill and people management skill.
