Job Description

Project People are supporting an independent SEN day school based in SW London, with the appointment of an experienced Primary Teacher from September 2019. The school caters for pupils with Asperger's Syndrome, high functioning autism, ADHD and pathological demand avoidance from ages 7 to 16.

The successful person will be experienced teaching children with autism and Asperger's alongside these pupils having been out of education for a period of time they have become school phobic. You will pride yourself with supporting the reintegration of children back into school as well as providing young people with opportunities to develop socially.

There is also scope to add middle leadership responsibilities to the role for the right person.

You will be based in a school that has been designed with a state-of-the-art learning environment which has been created to meet the needs of young people with autism. The school offers a calm, safe, positive and nurturing learning environment, where young people can learn, grown and prosper.

Their class sizes are very small and classrooms are 'enabling environments' with sensory lighting, muted colours, individual work stations and visual timetables. The curriculum is designed to meet the specific academic, social, emotional and sensory needs of each individual child. This enables all to thrive in a learning space solely catering to their requirements.
