Head of Marketplace and Affiliates

Berkshire (Contract)

The Company:

A leading Telecoms company, who operate in an agile, collaborative and customer centric environment. They are currently seeking a Head of Marketplace & Affiliates to join their team on an interim basis, where you will be responsible for identifying the right partners to bring on board to a new e-commerce platform.


  • STRATEGY: Deliver on the existing eCommerce Marketplace and affiliate offer bank strategies, as well as create and drive the B2C marketplace strategy going forward.
  • BUDGET / TEAM: Be responsible for the P&L including the definition of specific pricing and distribution strategies to drive revenue and bottom line contribution
  • TEAM: You'll recruit and lead a small team over time to support a core source of revenue for our business and report to the Director of Products & Partnerships
  • KPI: Identify and manage the marketplace specific performance measures including analysis to determine specific growth drivers and weaknesses
  • DELIVERY: Work with cross-functional teams to solve complex issues, identify trade-offs, help them structure the decision-making process by forming a business opinion on a recommended path of action, including the identification of trade-offs and/or creative options
  • LAUNCHES: Drive launches of new marketplace and affiliate partnership opportunities. Run analysis to inform our market entry decisions (e.g. building priority list of target locations, assessing feature preferences...)
  • MERCHANDISING: Select the right growth products in alignment with our and partner merchandising teams and make sure they will be available in the right volume at the right time
  • PARTNERSHIPS: Research, negotiate, and close new, online marketplace partnerships as the day to day contact
  • STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT: You'll create effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

Experience Required:

  • Experience in ecommerce, consulting and/or retail, or online payments preferably in a trading, commercial, or product role
  • A proactive attitude, be a fast decision-maker and solutions-orientated, with enthusiasm and determination to see-through projects to success
  • Demonstrated ability to work across different functions and teams, delivering strong results through influence
  • Proven leadership experience, enjoy managing a team, training skills and very good interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical, strategic and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability of being able to influence Senior Management
  • An understanding of the mechanisms of B2C eCommerce Marketplaces
