Job Description
Device Design Engineer - 12 months - Berkshire
We are looking for a creative Device Design Engineer to join our clients team for an initial 12 month contract based in Reading.
Your Main tasks will include:
- You will be responsible for the design and delivery of new device technologies as part of a virtual team under the direction of a Lead Device Architect or a senior member of the Design team. This may require working on the radio platform, higher application layers, or USIM. This will involve working alongside the Technical Relationship Management team to understand the roadmap of our clients principal technology partners, running technology trials with them, and transferring leanings into the design process.
- You will be responsible for drafting design requirements that are needed to support particular projects or investigations, under the guidance of the technical project lead, so that the end objectives are clearly understood from the outset and can be published to other design teams and technology partners working on the project. Depending on your experience and capability, the role may cover any or all the aspects of the project relating to the interaction of our clients mobile devices, from proof of concept through design, monitoring development, test plan sign-off, and transfer to operations.
- Provide project status reporting into the technical lead within the Device team.
- Provide ongoing fourth line support for projects after transfer to operations, if an in-life issue requires detailed technical knowledge of the design implementation to provide a solution. This will typically be as a back-up to the Device Performance Manager, who is the primary contact for in-life issues.
- Under the guidance of senior members of the design team, and peers in the test team, you will be responsible for the sign-off of test approval criteria for your project to ensure that our clients design can be fully validated prior to commercial roll-out.
- Contribute into cross-functional design and problem solving discussions on your projects.
- Play an active role in continuously improving the devices design process by identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
a sound technical understanding at least one of the following:
