Compliance and Governance Counsel - Reading, Berkshire - Permanent.

A leading telecoms company is searching for a Compliance and Governance Counsel to join their team near Reading, Berkshire on a permanent basis.

The Compliance and Governance Counsel will work in the company's Property and Legal team and will have responsibility for developing compliance and governance internally. You will advise the business on all key aspects of legal and regulatory compliance.

Role:

  • Overall compliance by the business with competition law as part of the new project arrangements working with the shareholder Compliance teams to drive the right behaviours and ensure information sharing occurs in a way that is consistent with the law and our legal framework.
  • Acting as the assistant Company Secretary to the Board assisting the General Counsel with the Board process as well as have responsibility for all governance queries under the project arrangements.
  • All key compliance policies/projects and deliver all relevant training to the business working closely with the Assurance, Safety and Risk team.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Ability to drive compliance and governance in a positive way to influence behavioural change.

  • Law Degree.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to influence and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • A collaborative team player with excellent organisational skills who engages with colleagues in a proactive way.

  • Proven track record of delivering compliance change in a busy commercial environment.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and simply to help influence decision making at all levels of the business.

  • Can embrace and manage change with a positive approach to continuous improvement.

  • Computer literate with strong Microsoft Office skills.

  • Demonstrable background in the compliance or regulatory sector preferably gained (in part) within an in-house environment. Competition law knowledge.
