AIX Engineer - AIX - UNIX - SC Cleared - Telford

Are you an experienced AIX Engineer with strong experience within Unix Infrastructure Support environments? If so, please apply to a brand new contract role based in Telford for one of the worlds largest IT Service Providers.

We are currently seeking an experienced AIX Engineer to work within the Unix Infrastructure Support Team within their Data Centre Tower at our high profile customer site in Telford, Shropshire.

This senior level role sits within a team that is responsible for the Live Service Delivery of all aspects of the core infrastructure. The team support Production, Disaster Recovery, Live Acceptance Proving, Test and Development services on a 24/7 basis.

Working with the latest version of AIX virtualisation, you will be required to provide operating system support and maintenance for AIX based systems. You will require a working knowledge of AIX UNIX operating systems, ability to produce high quality UNIX scripts and knowledge of Cloud computing principles to support the team's aims to manage, monitor and maintain our services and particularly our cloud service offerings.

You will ideally have the following:

  • Proven experience in support role preferably at 2nd line level
  • Significant AIX UNIX experience
  • In depth knowledge of AIX Infrastructure including virtualization
  • UNIX scripting skills
  • Proven ability to problem solve
  • Ability to work independently
  • Able to attain and maintain SC clearance

Desirable Skills:

  • Understanding of SAN principles
  • Understanding of Cloud computing principles
  • Knowledge of OEM toolset
  • Knowledge of Bladelogic toolset
  • Knowledge of Netbackup
